Son of the Rev. Henry Clavering. Attractive, brilliant and impulsive, he was yet so weak that when Lady Ongar, who had once jilted him, offered herself to him when she became a rich widow, he was almost unequal to telling her that he was engaged to Florence Burton. On the death of his two uncles he came into the estate and title, and married Florence.
